Biography - "Roxy's Journey"

Nickname: Rox 'n' Roll
Birthdate: March 17th
Birthplace: Detroit, Michigan

Some people could say I was born with certain advantages over many women of the world. My parents weren’t rich, I wasn’t exactly a scholar and I wasn’t the high school prom queen. It’s a little deeper and much more sentimental. I was born in the great USA where dreams live to become reality and what reality can truly become. From a skinny little drummer girl in Rochester, Michigan to traveling around the world opening for bands like Ozzy, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi and performing in front of hundreds of thousands. If you have dreams you're halfway home, so that’s where I’ll begin.

I’m sixteen sitting in my high school classroom daydreaming when the teacher asks me “Who is the governor of Michigan”?

Ugh…come on think, he says. “Ugh…Steven Tyler? Wrong think again! Ozzy? WRONG think again! “ I DON’T KNOW AND DON’T CARE” I rudely replied. Unfortunately, that was my basic attitude toward some of my academic classes. I had little interest in learning much outside of music. I would go home practice my drums and dream of being on stage. While most girls were anticipating prom night my sister Maxine and I were anticipating gig night with our rock band .

I was a dedicated thrill-seeking musician who was obsessed with Black Sabbath and cute guys. There was a passage written in my yearbook predicting that in 10 years I would be rockin’ on stage at Pine Knob amphitheater in Pontiac Michigan, sure enough 10 years later Vixen opened for Ozzy Osbourne at Pine Knob.

I won a music scholarship to college as the top clarinetist in the symphony orchestra. After rehearsal I would run to the restroom change into my leather outfit and rush to a gig that night. I was quite the contradiction though never losing sight of becoming a successful rock drummer. At that period in time most girls my age were booking engagement parties while we were booking shows at any rock club that would have us. After two semesters the Conservatory became a lil' too conservative, so we hit the road crammed inside a Camaro and toured the country. It wasn’t the most comfortable way to travel, but hey, we were young and on a mission. I spent many years on the road playing clubs in practically every city. I met all sorts of interesting people and had the time of my life. I knew my destiny, I could see it. I visualized success daily until one day I was actually living my dream. Playing drums is my passion, it’s good for the mind, body and soul. If I’m having a bad day I just beat the drums a while. PMS, no problem it relieves that instantly.

I’m nervous as hell, I pooped twice and my stomach’s in knots when in walks Bob Bock our tour manager and says “It’s showtime girls!” I HAVE TO POOP” I blurt out. “Too bad” he says. Bob escorts us to the backstage area where I get a sudden rush of adrenaline hearing 15,000 fans cheering for Vixen. We hit the stage and rock the crowd like it was our first arena gig, which by the way…it was.
